Symbolism

Navy blue and gold are the school colors. The Morion helmet symbolizes the ever present Spanish influence in the culture and presence of military strength. The Lamp of Knowledge symbolizes brilliance in academics and the importance of education; the horse saddle illustrates the rich history of the ranchos days when vast herds of horses and cattle grazed on the hills and valleys of Rancho Canada de La Habra, which referred to pass through the hills, a natural pass to the north first discovered by the Spanish explorers in 1769. Today it is known as La Habra, California, where Sonora High School resides. The avocado is the city tree of La Habra and denotes the longevity of dedication to the Army Values. The Latin words Servitium Legendi Communitas translates to Service to the Community, as Sonora High School JROTC cadets are dedicated to serve our community.
