Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a blue vertical rectangle arched convexly at the top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) gray border, a white wolverines head in 3/4 position with dark blue details, gray eyes, nose, inside mouth and tongue and white teeth. Attached above the rectangle, a dark blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) gray border, inscribed VASHON in white letters. Attached below the rectangle, a dark blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) gray border, inscribed WOLVERINES in white letters. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inch (8.89 cm) in height and 2 9/16 inches (6.51 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue and white are the school colors. The wolverine is the schools mascot, depicting ferocity and strength. The wolverine also symbolizes leadership and accomplishment, as students are motivated to develop self-esteem, teamwork and self-discipline through the JROTC program and become better citizens to the community.

Description
A Silver color metal and epoxied device, 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height, consisting of a shield blazoned: Quarterly Azure and Argent, in the first quarter a Lamp of Knowledge Argent (Silver); in the second quarter a stylized cityscape of St. Louis of the third, the Gateway Arch surmounting two wavys of the first; in the third quarter a wolverine head in 3/4 position of the second detailed of the third; and in the fourth quarter a chevron couped surmounted by another inverted of the third. Attached below the shield a Dark Blue scroll inscribed VASHON HIGH SCHOOL in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Blue and white are the school colors. The Lamp of Knowledge denotes brilliance in academics and the importance of education. The Gateway Arch is a historical monument of St. Louis, Missouri, and a symbol of early pioneer expansion. The wolverine is the schools mascot, illustrating ferocity, strength, leadership and accomplishment. The united chevrons suggest support to the community, with the inverted chevron portraying the letter V for Vashon High School.
