Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

A yellow circular shaped embroidered item, edged garnet, displaying a stylized face of a Raider, buff face, black hair and details, yellow eyes and earring and garnet hat and bandana; all within a circular designation band, edged with a 1/8 (.32 cm) garnet border and inscribed at the top RIVERDALE and at bottom RAIDERS in black. The overall dimensions are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter.


Symbolism

Garnet and gold are the school colors. The Raider is the schools mascot, symbolizing the cadets determination to achieve academic excellence and strength of character to become future leaders.

Description

On a Gold color metal and epoxied shield shape device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows; Argent, a sun issuant from chief Or, in base two bar wavys Celeste; on a chief Sable, two sabers of the second surmounted by a tri-cornered hat Gules (Garnet). Attached below the shield a Garnet scroll inscribed SUCCESS IS A CHOICE in Gold.


Symbolism

Garnet and gold are the school colors. The sun symbolizes enlightenment within the classroom and military training while also symbolizing the sunshine state, Florida. The two light blue wavy bars denote the two rivers, Alva and Dunbar, near Ft. Myers, Florida, and the location of the school. The tri-corner hat over crossed sabers are associated with the school mascot, the RAIDERS.
