Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

An embroidered disc 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter, consisting of an inner circle described by a 1/32 inch (.08 cm) in width red line displaying the face of an ape frontally, throughout.  The inner circle is scarlet on the left and yellow on the right.  The colors of the features are reversed along the same vertical axis.  A yellow designation band surrounds the circle, inscribed PITTSBURG "STATE above and UNIVERSITY below in scarlet letters.  The entire device is edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) scarlet border.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 13 June 1978. It was cancelled due to a new design on 11 May 2004, currently   amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 10 April 2015.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-172)

Description

A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a sheaf of wheat surmounted by two mining tools in saltire and a sabre in pale, all of gold color metal enveloped by a red enamel scroll arched across the top and extending along each side of the device, the scroll inscribed DUX ET LUX in gold color metal letters.


Background

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 19 February 1969, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 10 April 2016.
