Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a white circular embroidered item a shield blazoned as follows: Azure, a Native American, holding in dexter hand, a string box, in sinister an arrow in dexter chief a mullet Argent, all within a bordure of the second. Crest: from a wreath a dexter arm holding a sword Or.  Encircling the coat of arms, a blue designation band edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Gold border the inscription from lower left to lower right "UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS" each word separated by a disc at base the inscription "R.O.T.C" between two disc and disc between each letter, all Yellow.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 15 October 1953, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 16 March 2016.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-258)

Description

A Gold color metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Per pale Gules and Argent, a Native American holding in dexter hand a string bow and in sinister hand an arrow and in dexter chief a mullet, all Or. 


Background

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 24 February 1961, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 16 March 2016.
