Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

A shield shaped embroidered item blazoned as follows:  Per bend sinister Purple and Gules, between a bend sinister Or, an eagles head erased to sinister of the last and hurt fimbriated and bearing three mullets Argent.  Attached above the shield, a Purple scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Yellow border inscribed TENN TECH in Yellow letters.


Symbolism

Purple and gold (yellow) are the colors of the university.  The eagle is the schools mascot.  The disc with three stars has been adapted from the Tennessee state flag.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 19 August 1974, it was cancelled due to a new design on 25 February 1985. It was amended to add metric measurements and subdued colors on 5 September 1992, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 25 May 2016.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-95)

Description

A gold color metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall, consisting of a Purple shield displaying the seal of Tennessee Technological University. 


Background

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 10 March 1975, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 25 May 2016.
