Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a purple vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, displaying a yellow stylized tornado. Attached above the rectangle, a purple scroll edged with a 1/8 (.32 cm) yellow border inscribed BOOKER H.S. in yellow. Attached below the rectangle, a purple scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border inscribed TORNADOES in yellow letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.


Symbolism

The tornado is the schools mascot; powerful and commanding respect, a force of nature. Purple and Gold are the schools colors. Purple is the color of royals and authority, and Gold exemplifies excellence and honor.

Description

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Quarterly Or and Purpure, in the first quarter two arrows in saltire points upwards of the second, in the second quarter a graduation cap above a diploma fesswise; in the third quarter a stylized tornado, all of the first and garnished of the second, and in the fourth quarter a torch of the second; all within a diminished bordure Or. Attached below the shield, a Purple scroll inscribed LEADERSHIP EDUCATION TRAINING in Gold.


Symbolism

The two arrows represent leadership and strength; core values of officers in training. The graduation cap and diploma scroll personify the pursuit of education and achievement of goals. The tornado is the schools mascot; powerful and commanding respect, a force of nature. The enflamed torch is alight as a beacon, leading the way forward and is emblematic of knowledge and education. Purple and Gold are the schools colors. Purple is the color of royals and authority, and Gold exemplifies excellence and honor.
