Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item, blazon as follows: Argent, a stylized falcon volant to sinister Azure, garnished of the first. Attached above the shield a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border, the stacked inscription WEST over HENDERSON in red letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Red, white (silver) and blue are the schools colors. The falcon is the school mascot.  The graceful strength of the falcon denotes the cadets dedication to their school, community and country.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved on 5 December 1995, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 10 June 2016. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-448)

Description
A silver colored metal and epoxied vertical oval device, the top flat, 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height, displaying a stylized blue falcon in flight, the back leg and wing black, above the inscription ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE arcing in base to upper right, in red letters.

Symbolism

The shoulder loop Insignia was originally authorized on 5 December 1995, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 10 June 2016.
