Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a light blue circular item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, the overall diameter 3 inches (7.62 cm) centered on the disc a white silhouetted representation of a 1776 patriot between two arced inscriptions, FREEDON above and PATRIOTS below in scarlet letters 5/16 inch ( .79 cm) in height.     


Symbolism
Red, white and light blue are the school colors.

Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved on 22 April 1980, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 30 June 2016. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-1140)

Description

A silver colored metal and epoxied device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned:  Azure, a torch Argent enflamed Gules and extendant above the shield debruised by a fess of the like charged with four open books of the second and between in chief a winged foot in dexter and the Liberty Bell in sinister and above a mount of the like issuant from base.  Attached below the shield a scarlet biparted scroll double silver inscribed FREEDOM to left and PATRIOTS to right in silver letters.


Symbolism

The colors represent those associated with the school.  The torch represents knowledge and academics.  The winged foot suggests excellence in physical activities.  The Liberty Bell alludes to the freedoms stated in the Constitution and suggests the schools name.  The mount symbolizes TABLE ROCK a prominent geological formation in the area of the school.  The four open books indicate the four junior high schools that provide students for Freedom High School.

The shoulder loop Insignia was originally authorized on 8 November 1988, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 30 June 2016.
