Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a golden yellow vertical rectangular shaped embroidered item, arched convexly at top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, the frontal view of a stylized golden yellow bulldog walking, outlined and detailed black, its head in a three 3/4 position to right. Attached above the rectangle, a golden yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 (.32 cm) black border inscribed MPHS in black letters. Attached below the rectangle, a golden yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed BULLDOGS in black letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Black and gold (golden yellow) are the school colors. The bulldog is the schools mascot, representing the cadets strong allegiance and attentiveness as leaders in the school and within the community.

Description

A gold color metal and epoxied shield shape device, 11/4 (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows; Per pale Azure and Sable, between an open book Argent fesswise, in chief a laurel wreath Or and a bulldogs head affronte of the last, detailed Sable, in base a plow bendwise, point downwards and a winged foot bend sinisterwise toe downwards, all Or. Attached above the shield, a red scroll inscribed MARY PERSONS and below the shield a red scroll inscribed COMITTED TO EXCELLENCE, in Gold letters.


Symbolism

Black and gold are the school colors while blue signifies trustworthiness and red symbolizes determination. The open book symbolizes knowledge and the quest for higher learning. The bulldog is the schools mascot, representing the cadets strong allegiance and attentiveness as leaders in the school and within the community. The plow alludes to Mary Persons High Schools history as the first vocational agricultural school established in 1918. The winged foot denotes athletics and sportsmanship.
