Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a black shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) silver gray border, blazoned as follows: Sable, a stylized Native American head in profile to sinister Argent, detailed of the first, in headdress of the second, garnished Gules, detailed of the first. Attached to each side of the shield and below a black scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Silver Gray border inscribed DECATUR H.S. RED RAIDERS in Red letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 (8.89 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.86 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Red, black and silver are the school colors. The Native American Red Raider is the schools mascot.

Description

On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inch (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Gules, a chain cross; in dexter chief a harp, a winged foot and laurel branch in sinister chief, a pair of drama masks in dexter base and a lamp all in sinister base, all Argent (Silver Gray); all within a diminished bordure of the last. Attached above the shield, a Red tri-parted scroll inscribed with PRIDE TRADITION EXCELLENCE in Silver Attached below the shield, a Red scroll inscribed with DECATUR in Silver. Attached on either side of the shield is Silver mantling.


Symbolism

The drama masks and harp are symbolic of the arts. The winged foot and laurel branch are indicative of athletics and achievement. The linked chain signifies a bond of strength, unity and working together. The lamp portrays wisdom and the pursuit of knowledge.
