Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a Blue keystone shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) Yellow border, blazoned as follows: Azure, a White torch flamant Yellow between two Yellow lightning flashes pilewise each issuant from the keystone notch points to base. Attached to the sides and below the shield, a Blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed VALLEY VIEW BLAZERS in Yellow. Overall dimensions are 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) in height by 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in width


Symbolism

Blue and gold are the school colors. The torch represents the quest for knowledge and guidance of the schools faculty. The lightning flashes flank the torch to symbolize the energy of the cadets in their pursuit of excellence. Additionally, the lightning flashes in pilewise position form the shape of the letter V to both simulate a valley as well as refer to the schools name of Valley View.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 22 February 1994, it is hereby cancelled due to a new design with an updated description and symbolism on 15 March 2017. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-1160)
