Shoulder Loop Insignia

Description

A Gold color metal and epoxied device 11/4 inches (3.18 cm) consisting of a gray sugar hill tower charge with a long cross with trefoils at the top and side extremities, red, between two black windows.  Atop the tower a gold rodent held by two seated brown mongooses, facing each other detailed gold, with black eyes. Symbolism

The tower of ruined sugar mills are a Saint Croix landmark.  Saint Croix, French for Holy Cross, is symbolized by the Red Cross and alludes to the schools locale.  The mongoose is the mascot of the Mongoose Battalion, so named because of the mongoose, which was introduced into the islands by the European settlers to kill rats in the sugar cane fields.  The blue wave-like pattern of the scroll symbolizes the ocean surrounding the island of Saint Croix.
