Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield-shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, blazoned as follows: Quarterly Sable and Or, a stylized wasp Proper. Attached above the shield, a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch black border inscribed JACKET BATTALION in black letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.98 cm) in width


Symbolism

Yellow and black are the school colors. Yellow (gold) represents honor, a character trait cadets convey toward their country and each other. Black refers to determination, a virtue the students demonstrate as they strive to learn and improve. White denotes purity, a trait the cadets reflect in their manners and decisions. The wasp (yellow jacket) is the schools mascot, symbolizing an aggressive pursuit of athletic and academic excellence. It further alludes to school pride.

Description

A gold color metal and epoxied shield shaped device, 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height, blazoned as follows: Per saltire Sable and Or, in chief a stylized wasp of the second, detailed of the first, and in base a Lamp of Knowledge of the second, in flank a pattern of hexagon shapes Proper. Attached below the shield a black scroll inscribed MIDDLESBORO H.S. in gold.
