Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a circular embroidered item 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in diameter overall consisting of a background divided into three equal sections, scarlet, gold and medium blue, edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) scarlet border.


Symbolism

The tri-parted three colors of the patch allude to the Regional County School District of Wichita Falls;  Columbia Blue signifies Hirschi High School, Scarlet denotes Wichita Falls High School, and Old Gold symbolizes Ryder High School. 


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 5 June 1975, it is currently being updated to include manufacturing drawings and ACU color versions on 24 May 2017. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-1163)

Description

A silver colored metal and epoxied shield shaped device, 1 3/16 (3.02 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Gules a wolf Argent (Silver Gray) sejant head upward howling. Attached below the shield a Black scroll inscribed WICHITA FALLS in Silver letters.


Symbolism

Gray and red are the school colors. The wolf howling denotes protection. The wolf is the schools mascot.


Background

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 19 September 1975, it is currently being updated to include manufacturing drawings on 24 May 2017.
