Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a red vertical rectangular embroidered item, arched convexly at top and bottom, a disc divided in red and white quarters, displaying a large star divide in quarters between four stars in each quarter of the disc, all counterchange between the arched inscriptions MacARTHUR above and GENERALS below in white, within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border.


Symbolism

Red and white are the school colors.  The five stars reflect the rank of the schools namesake, General Douglas MacArthur.  They also represent the cadets and their dedication to the circle of country, state, community and school.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized on 23 September 1994, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversion on 19 May 2017 (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-364).

Description

A Gold colored metal and epoxied shield shaped device, 1 1/4 (3.18 cm) in width overall blazoned as follows: Gules, a bend sinister enhanced and a bend sinister Argent, overall five mullets conjoined on the points of a Pentagon Or. Attached at the sides and above the shield a Gold scroll inscribed MACARTHUR in red letters.


Symbolism

Red and white are the school colors.  The shield denotes the dedication of the cadets to country, community, and the school.  The ring of five stars signifies a General in the military and symbolizes the schools namesake.
