Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

A Gold shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border; blazoned as follows: Or a panthers head in 3/4 position to sinister couped at neck Sable, detailed of the first.  Attached at the top a Gold scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border inscribed PESH in Black. The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height and 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width. 


Symbolism

Black and gold are colors of the school.  The panther is the schools mascot. Gold, emblematic of excellence, refers to the lofty standards of the school.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized on 9 March 1983. It was amended to add metric measurements and subdued colors on 5 October 1992, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversion on 01 June 2017 (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-280).

Description

A Gold color metal and epoxied shield device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of an arced shield blazoned:  Or, a bend sinister Sable, debruised by an atomic symbol in chief above a panthers face of the second garnished of the first.  Attached below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed PANTHER BATTALION in Gold letters.


Symbolism

Black and gold are the school colors.  The panther is the schools mascot.  The atomic symbol reflects the academic and military instruction received by the cadets to prepare them for the challenges of the technical future.


Background

The shoulder loop insignia was original authorized 13 November 1992, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 01 June 2017.
