Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a gray vertical rectangular-shaped embroidered item arched convexly at the top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, four diagonally placed black claw marks, from upper right to lower left, overall a stylized blue wildcat head, with gray details, edged black, with white eyes, teeth, nose highlight, and mane. Attached above the rectangle a gray scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border inscribed ROBERT VELA and below a gray scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border inscribed SABERCAT in blue letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Blue, black, and silver are the school colors. The saber cat is the schools mascot, which signifies the family theme of cats within the Edinburg community. The saber cat further alludes to unity, courage, and school pride. The scratch marks symbolize strength and determination.

Description

A silver color metal and epoxied shield shaped device, 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height, blazoned as follows: Per saltire Azure and Sable, in chief an open book surmounted by a quill pen bend sinisterwise, to dexter and sinister an arched laurel branch, all Argent (Silver) and in base a torch of the last enflamed Gules. Issuant from behind the shield a stylized demi- wildcat Argent (Silver), bearing its fangs and claws, its dexter arm over the top of the shield. Attached below the shield a back scroll inscribed ROBERT VELA H.S. in silver.


Symbolism

Blue, black, and silver are the school colors. The wildcat symbolizes a saber cat, the schools mascot, which signifies the family theme of cats within the Edinburg community. The saber cat further alludes to unity, courage, and school pride. The open book and quill signifies the importance in academics. The torch suggests excellence in school athletics and activities.  The laurel branches denote achievement and victory.
