Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a Blue triangle point down and cropped with an arched top, two lightning flashes in a V form, surmounted by vertical placed sword, through the center, point up with white blade and gray hilt, superimposed upon the blade, the top view of a red tri-cornered hat trimmed in Silver Gray. Attached at the top, a red arched scroll inscribed PATRIOTS in White letters; all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Red border. The overall dimensions are 3 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 3 3/8 inches (8.57 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Red, white and blue are the school colors. The tri-corn hat reflects the schools mascot and nickname. The sword symbolizes the cadets military training. The lightning flashes allude to modern technology, training and the cadets academic pursuits.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized on 4 June 1992, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversions on 10 August 2017. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-262)

Description

On a silver metal and epoxied device 1 3/16 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned; Azure, the top of a tri-corn hat, the point downwards, between two lightning flashes issuing from base chevronwise reverse Argent (Silver) on a chief dancetty a sword palewise, point upward, blade of the first, handle of the second, between two open books of the last.  Attached below the shield a Red scroll doubled Silver and inscribed PATRIOTS in Silver letters.


Symbolism

Red, white (silver), and blue are the school colors. The tri-corn hat reflects the schools mascot and nickname. The lightning flashes reflect technology and training and the books denote history and traditional academic instruction of the cadets. The sword symbolizes military training.
