Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

A vertical trapezoid shaped embroidered item, arched outwardly at the top and bottom, a horizontal yellow oval edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, displaying a blue silhouette dog running to the right; attached above the oval an yellow scroll inscribe LYMAN and attached below a yellow scroll inscribed GREYHOUNDS in blue. Overall dimensions are 3 5/16 inches (8.41 cm) in height by 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) at top and 3 inches (7.62 cm) width at the base.


Symbolism

Blue and gold (yellow) are the school colors. The greyhound is the schools mascot.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 20 July 1994, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversions on 3 August 2017.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-352)

Description

A gold colored metal and epoxied inverted triangular shaped device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in width overall, displaying blue inverted triangle voided in the center, superimposed by a blue silhouette of a greyhound running to the right; the greyhound legs are surmounting a semi-circular gold scroll, at the base of the triangle, from middle left to middle right, inscribed NOTHING BUT YOUR BEST in blue.         


Symbolism

Blue and gold are the school colors. The greyhound is the schools mascot. The inverted triangle symbolizes the cadets commitment to excellence through knowledge, athletic endeavors and team spirit.
