Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

A blue vertical rectangle embroidered item arched convexly at the top and bottom bearing three white wavy horizontal lines overall and throughout gray latte stone. Attached above and below the rectangle are blue scrolls inscribed MARIANAS above and HIGH SCHOOL below in yellow letters; and all within a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) yellow border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Blue, yellow, white and gray reflect the colors of each class of the school. The latte stone, the house pillar of the Marianas islands legendary strong man, Taga, symbolizes the cadets training in military tactics. The blue and white wavy background suggests the island location of the school.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 16 July 1992, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversions on 28 July 2017.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-270)

Description

On a Gold color metal and epoxy shield shaped device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, blazoned as follows: Sable, issuant from  a base wavy Azure and Argent a latte stone, palewise Or, throughout, superimposed by a dolphin Argent (Silver Gray) embowed to sinister.


Symbolism

Blue, yellow, white and gray are the schools colors. The dolphin is the schools mascot. The latte stone rising from the wavy base suggests the Marianas Islands, the home of the unit. The latte stone reflects local legend representing the strength of Taga and symbolizes the mental and physical fitness of the cadets. The latte stone id gold, symbolic of excellence for which the cadets strive.
