Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

A shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, blazoned as follows: Azure, issuant from base a stylized demi-bear affront Or throughout, shaded Brn, eyes, nose, mouth and details Sable, eye highlights Argent. Attached above the shield a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border inscribed EAST HIGH SCHOOL in yellow. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width.


Symbolism

The school colors are navy blue and gold. Blue suggests confidence, intelligence and unity, while gold denotes achievement and victory. The Golden Bear is the mascot of the school, which signifies the strength and competitive accomplishments of the East High School Cadet Battalion. The bear is a traditional symbol of power, but it also highlights the importance of confidence, leadership and school pride.


Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 23 March 2011. It was cancelled due to a new design on 3 October 2017. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-1176)

Description

A shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Azure, upon a mound Vert, a stylized bear issuant affront Brn, nose Sable, detailed Or. Attached below the shield, a blue scroll inscribed with GOLDEN BEARS in gold.
