Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) yellow border, blazoned as follows: Gyronny of eight Vert and Argent, a stylized pole star Vert (Prophet Green), edged and emitting eight rays Or, throughout. Attached above the shield a green scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border inscribed "RAIDER" in yellow. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 9/16 inches (6.51 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Kelly green (Prophet Green) and Hazard Yellow (yellow) are the school colors. The Raider is the mascot of the school, signifying both athletic and academic strength. Raiders were notorious for their antics on the high seas and feared amongst seagoing mariners. The pole star further alludes to the Raider, a familiar symbol that illustrates school pride. The star itself was also a guide to sailors when navigating the open seas.

Description

A shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device, 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per saltire, Celeste, Vert and Argent, in chief two wavys of the third, in base an open book Or, in fess a torch palewise of the last, enflamed Gules and a naked dexter arm embowed Or. Surmounting the top of the shield two telescopes saltirewise Or. Attached below the shield, two semi-circular light green scrolls inscribed "RICHMOND" to the left and to the right "SENIOR H.S." in gold.


Symbolism

The school colors are green and yellow. The Raider is the mascot of the school, signifying both athletic and academic strength. The ocean waves allude to the raiders, who were notorious for their antics on the high seas and feared amongst seagoing mariners. The telescopes, a common tool used to navigate the open seas, further highlights the mascot. The arm honors the community's various working industries. The Book of Learning suggests the school's commitment to higher knowledge. The torch is a symbol of truth and triumph.
