Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) black border, blazoned as follows: Argent (Silver Gray) a stylized indigenous warriors head in headdress, to sinister, Argent detailed Vert and Sable.  Attached above the shield, a green scroll ledged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) black border inscribed YERBA BUENA in black. The overall dimensions are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height by 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) in width.

          


Symbolism

Yerba Buena high school opened in 1976 and the Aztec Warriors are the schools mascot. In 2002 the Native Americans protested against the school concerning the use of the Native American mascot. The school and the community agreed to change the mascot name to the Warriors, in order to create a new mascot, which all parties agreed upon. The school colors are green, white black and gray.

Description

On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Sable, a stylized Warriors head in profile to sinister Argent, in headdress of the last, detailed Vert. Attached below the shield, a black scroll doubled green inscribed LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE in silver.


Symbolism

The warrior is the mascot of the school, and derives its style and heritage from the indigenous tribes of the area local to the school. Green, white, and black are the school colors.


Background

The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 6 July 2018.
