Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a purple embroidered disc shaped item, edged with a narrow yellow border, a stylized yellow façade of Fresno High School, throughout, detailed purple, all within a circular purple designation band, edged along the outside with a 1/8 inch (0.32cm) yellow border, inscribed “FRESNO HIGH SCHOOL” above and “WARRIORS” below in yellow letters. Overall diameter is 3 inches (7.62cm).


Symbolism

Gold (yellow) and purple are the school colors. Gold (yellow) represents the cadets’ value place on obtaining knowledge and growth. Purple signifies enlightenment and continuous improvement of the students. The image of the high school building highlights its history within the Fresno community since 1889.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 3 November 1995, it was cancelled a new design and description was approved on 22 April 2022.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-0424)

Blazon

On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Purpure, a torch in pale Or, surmounted at base by an escutcheon blazoned as follows: Or, a sun in splendor of the last, within a diminished bordure Or. Supporters: On either side of the shield an ash branch Or. Attached below the shield, a purple scroll inscribed “WARRIORS” in gold letters.


Symbolism

Gold and purple are the school colors. The torch and shield allude to the school’s mascot, the Warrior, representing defending and lighting the way. The flamed torch symbolizes the pursuit of academic achievement; the shield conveys the stability and confidence instilled in cadets. The sun represents excellence and a warrior’s victory. The ash branches points to the location, as well as the name of the school, which translates to “ash tree.”
