Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a green vertical rectangular shape embroidered item arched convexly at top and bottom edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) white border, a yellow battle-ax diagonally placed, surmounted by a white Vikings helmet, the blade of the ax surmounting the horn of the helmet at the viewers left. Attached above the item a green scroll edged with 1/8 (0.32cm) white border inscribed KINSTON in white.  Attached below a green scroll inscribed VIKINGS in white. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches  (8.89 cm) in height by 2 1/3inches (6.04cm) in width.


Symbolism

The school colors are green and gold. The schools mascot is the Vikings.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized on 20 May 1982, it was amended on 31 October 2018 to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversions.

Description

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Argent, a cross Gules, charged with a Lamp of Knowledge inflamed Or, in sinister base a fleur-de-lis of the last; on a canton Vert, a Vikings helm Or. Attached below the shield, a gold tri-parted scroll with the inscription LEARN TO LEAD in black letters.


Symbolism

Green and gold are the colors of Kinston High School. The helmet represents the schools mascot, the Vikings. The Lamp of Knowledge represents enlightenment and leadership
