Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a circular gray embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border a purple stylized cougars head couped, detailed white and yellow; all within a purple designation band, edged yellow bearing the inscription MARTIN LUTHER KING above and HIGH SCHOOL below in yellow. Overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in diameter.


Symbolism

The colors purple and gold represent royalty, alluding to the schools surname of King. The cougar portrays elegance and strength, signifying the academic and military training of the cadets.

Description

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Argent (Silver Gray) a chief dancetty Purpure, in base a cougars head affronty Proper. Attached below the shield, a purple scroll bearing the inscription MLK HS COUGARS in gold.


Symbolism

The colors purple and gold represent royalty, characterizing the schools surname of King. The chief dancetty suggests a mountain range, alluding to the cougars alternative name of mountain lion. The cougar portrays elegance and strength, signifying the academic and military training of the cadets.
