Shoulder Loop Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per bend Gules and Sable, on a bend Argent four grizzly bear paw prints bendwise between a stylized rising demi-sun mountain scape and a winged foot of Mercury above an open scroll and quill bendwise, all of the last (Silver Gray). Attached to the sides and bottom of the shield a Black scroll inscribed GRIZZLY BATTALION in Silver letters.


Symbolism

Red, white and black are the school colors. The grizzly bear is the schools mascot and symbolizes the Grizzly Battalions fierce determination. The four paw prints stand for the four grade levels of high school and marks each cadets success over the years. The rising sun represents the daily pursuit of a quality education at Sunnyside High School. The winged foot and scroll with quill denote the variety of pursuits in athletics and academics.
