Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, blazoned as follows: Sable, a mount with three peaks Argent throughout, surmounted by a stylized demi-eagle of the first, issuing from dexter, detailed Or, eyed and garnished of the second. Attached above the shield, a Black scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Yellow border inscribed HAWKS in Yellow letters.


Symbolism

The school colors are black and gold. Black denotes courage and confidence, while gold suggests honor and achievement. The mountain refers to the high peaks and rocky terrain in San Bernardino. The three peaks further allude to three important qualities that students strive to achieve and emulate while in the JROTC program: character, confidence, and leadership. The hawk is the high school mascot, a powerful bird of prey. It soars in the sky as a symbol of pride and intelligence.

Description

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Sable, a hawk ascending Or, wings extended, below three stylized snowcaps of the last; on a chief indented, gyronny of thirteen Sable and Argent. Attached below the shield, a black scroll inscribed ABOVE ALL THE REST in Gold letters.

The hawk is the high school mascot, a powerful bird of prey. It soars in the sky as a symbol of pride and intelligence. The light emitting behind the mountain refers to excellence in academics.
