Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a vertical rectangular embroidered item arced convexly at the top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border, the overall dimensions 3 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 inches (6.35 cm) in width, a Spartans head in helmet, couped at the neck and facing to the left, white face, plume, collar and helmet details, black facial features and plume details, red details on helmet visor and chin rest.  Attached above a White scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border inscribed SEASIDE  and attached below a White scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border inscribed SPARTANS in white letters.


Symbolism

Black and scarlet (red) are the school colors. The Spartan is the schools mascot.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 20 August 1986.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-31)

Description

A silver color metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Sable, a closet Argent (Silver), between in chief a Greek helm of the last, plumed Gules and in base a torch Argent (Silver), enflamed Gules.  Attached below the shield a silver bi-parted scroll inscribed to the left SEASIDE and to the right SPARTANS in silver.


Symbolism

Black and scarlet (red) are the school colors. The Greek helmet signifies the schools mascot, the Spartan soldier, as well as the ROTC activities of the school. The torch symbolizes knowledge gained by the students.


Background

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 4 May 1988.
