Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, blazoned as follows: Argent, a stylized cougar face of the first, detailed and fimbriated Purpure. Attached above the item a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) purple border, inscribed COUGARS in purple. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 15/16 inches (7.46 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Purple and white are the schools colors. The mascot is the cougar, representing strength and ferocity, indicating the cadets. The cougar (or mountain lion) is a feline native to this region of Spanish Springs Valley in Sparks, Nevada, the location of school.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 20 July 2001, it is hereby cancelled due to a new design and description and symbolism on 2 November 2018. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-631)

Description

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 3/32 inches (2.78 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per bend Argent (Silver) and Purpure, a stylized snarling cougar head erased at shoulder of the first, edged and detailed of the second.  Attached below the shield, a Purple scroll inscribed with COUGAR BATTALION, all in Silver.


Symbolism

Purple and white are the school colors. The school mascot is the cougar, representing strength of character, pursuit of academic excellence, and dedication to duty. The cougar (or mountain lion) is a feline native to this region of Spanish Springs Valley in Sparks, Nevada, the location of school.
