Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) dark blue border, blazoned as follows: Argent (Silver Gray) between two barracuda hauriant respectant Azure detailed Argent, a torch enflamed Or. Attached above the shield, a Silver Gray scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Dark Blue border inscribed ST. CROIX EC in Dark Blue. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) in width.


Symbolism

The Barracuda, an inquisitive and agile aquatic predator, is the schools mascot and embodies the cadets prolific pursuit of an academic education and military training. The torch, a symbol of knowledge and wisdom, is alight with the flame of enduring devotion. Royal blue and gray are the school colors. Blue alludes to water and the life it gives. Gray conveys strength, dedication, and professionalism. White suggests purity and an open mind. Gold exemplifies excellence and honor.

Description

On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Azure, a pile Argent bearing a cross Celeste. Attached below the shield, a Gray scroll bearing the inscription STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE in Silver.


Symbolism

The cross alludes to Saint Croix, the name of the island and school. The pile resembles the shape of the letter V to characterize the Virgin Islands. Royal blue and gray are the school colors. Light blue recalls the tropical Caribbean waters where the island is located. Dark blue and white are in tribute to the United States. Gray conveys strength, dedication, and professionalism. Silver is the color of precision and adaptability.
