Symbolism

Red and white are the school colors. Fullerton Union High School was established in 1893, and was one of the oldest high schools on the West Coast. The colors and mascot were copied from Stanford University at the time. Stanford University was founded in 1891 and their mascot was the Indian and their colors are cardinal red and white. Two years later, in 1893, Fullerton High School was established and, like Stanford, chose the Indian as their mascot. At that time, the American Indian represented the freedom and opportunity offered by the American west of the 19th century. At Fullerton High, the Indian remains a symbol for freedom. The JROTC Indian Battalion motto is Faith and Courage. Faith represents belief in ourselves, school, state and country. Courage gives us the ability to act, and take action on our beliefs.
