Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item, arched outwardly at base, edged with a 1/8 inch (32.cm) white border, blazoned as follows: Sanguine, a stylized eagle contourne wings expanded horizontally Argent, detailed Sable, above the arched inscription HIGH SCHOOL of the second. Attached at the top of the shield, a maroon scroll, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) white border, inscribed MISSION," in white letters. Overall dimensions are 2 3/8 inches (6.03cm) wide by 3 inches (8.26cm) high.


Symbolism

Maroon and silver are the school colors.  The eagle is the school mascot.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 24 May 1996, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 2 February 2019.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-490)

Description

A silver color metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per pale Sanguine and Argent, a chief Azure, overall in honor point a roundel Argent (Silver) bearing a mullet of the third. Crest: Azure, issuant from a wavy scroll Argent (Silver), inscribed PRIDE HONOR of the first, a demi-eagle wings expanded horizontally, in front of a roundel, all of the second. Attached below the shield a dark red scroll, inscribed MISSION HIGH SCHOOL in Silver.


Symbolism

Maroon and white are the school colors. The eagle is the schools mascot and signifies strength. The star is from the state flag and alludes to the Dallas Cowboys Football Team. Their coach Tom Landry is Mission High Schools most famous alumnus.

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 27 February 2001, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 2 February 2019.
