Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a dark red vertical rectangular embroidered item, arched convexly at top and bottom edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, a stylized dark red panther head in profile to the right, detailed and outlined yellow. Attached above the rectangle, a dark red scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border inscribed PELION in yellow. Attached below the rectangle, a dark red scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border inscribed PANTHERS in yellow. The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height by 2 7/16 inches (6.19 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Burgundy (soldier red) and metallic gold (yellow) are the school colors. The panther is the schools mascot, representing fierce determination of the Pelion High School cadets in their academic and military pursuits.

Description

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height blazoned as follows: Murrey, a panther rampant Sable, eyed, langued and claws Or. Attached below the shield, a black scroll inscribed PELION HS in gold.




Symbolism

The school colors are maroon and gold. Maroon alludes to life, courage, and compassion. Gold exemplifies excellence and honor. The panther portrays agility and guile, representing the tenacious pursuit of excellence and achievement gained through the intense academic demands and rigorous training of the ROTC program.
