Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, blazoned as follows: Vert, a silhouette of a cowboy astride a bucking bronco Or, to sinister. The overall dimensions are 3 1/16 inches  (7.78 cm) in height by 2 inches (5.08 cm) in width.


Symbolism

The cowboy astride a bucking bronco is the schools mascot.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 25 October 1967, it was amended to add subdued colors and metric and measurement on 23 July 1992. It is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversions on 6 March 2019. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-267)

Blazon

On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Vert, a silhouette of a cowboy astride a bucking bronco Sable. Attached below the shield, a gold scroll inscribed “COWBOYS” in black letters.


Symbolism

Green and Gold are the school colors, both colors symbolizing generosity, youthfulness, and prosperity. As the school mascot, the cowboy represents the spirit of hard work, endurance, and strength. These are traits highly valued and encouraged in the cadet program.


Background

The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 22 January 2021.
