On a yellow vertical rectangular shaped embroidered item arched convexly at top and bottom edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, a blue diagonal stripe from upper left to lower right between two smaller stripes, one on each side, over a stylized representation of a Blue Devil, detailed yellow. Attached above the rectangle, a yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 (32.cm) blue border inscribed HOPEWELL. Attached below the rectangle, a yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border inscribed BLUE DEVILS all in blue letters. The overall dimension is 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height.       

Blue and yellow are the school colors. The Blue Devil is the schools mascot. Blue symbolizes loyalty and yellow denotes excellence. The larger blue stripe alludes to the city of Hopewells location along the James River. The smaller stripes that parallel each other signifies teamwork and honor.

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Azure, a bend cotised Or between an open book surmounted by a torch of the last, enflamed Gules, and a stylized representation of a tall ship in full sail Or. Attached below the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed HOPEWELL HIGH SCHOOL in gold letters.
