Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a Black hexagon, a Yellow disc bearing a Black panthers head couped, detailed Yellow. Attached above the device and following the configuration of the hexagon, a Yellow scroll inscribed MARYVALE in Black letters and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border. The overall dimensions are 3 3/4 inches (9.53 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Black and gold are the school colors. The panther is the schools mascot and alludes to the cadets training and academic pursuit of knowledge.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized on 17 February 1971, it was amended on 23 October 1991 to add subdued colors, metric measurements. It is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversions on 7 February 2018.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-227)

Description

On a Gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a Gold shield charged with a Black enameled silhouetted head of a panther in profile couped at the neck, below a Black enameled canton bearing a gold six pointed star voided of the field.


Symbolism

Black and gold are the school colors. The panther is the schools mascot and alludes to the cadets training and academic pursuit of knowledge. The star symbolizes the geographic location of the schools state of Arizona and the constellation easily viewed at night.

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized on 15 June 1978, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 7 February 2018.
