Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a white vertical rectangular embroidered item, arched convexly at the top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border a blue bulldog head, facing to the front, with white eyes, nose and teeth, edged and detailed black, wearing a black collar with white spikes above the inscription "BULLDOGS" in black letters. Attached above the rectangle, a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "SAINT PAULS" in black. Attached below the rectangle, a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "HIGH SCHOOL" in black. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) width.


Symbolism

Royal blue and white are the school colors. The Bulldog is the school's mascot, representing the tenacity of cadets to for achieving excellence in their academics, physical training, and civic involvement. 


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 1 June 1994, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversions on 7 May 2018.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-346)

Description

On a shield shaped Silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Quarterly Argent and Azure, in first quarter an open book, surmounted by a quill bend sinisterwise, point downwards; in the second quarter, an arm embowed to sinister grasping a hammer bendwise; in the third quarter, a stylized atomic symbol surmounted by a torch and in the fourth quarter, a winged foot bend sinisterwise, toe inward and downward, all Argent (Silver); above the shield a bulldog head affrontee collared with spikes of the last. Attached below the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed "SAINT PAULS HIGH SCHOOL" in Silver.


Symbolism

Royal blue and white are the school colors. The open book and a quill represents the student's pursuit of academics. The bowed arm, grasping the hammer alludes to industrial and technical productions of Saint Pauls, North Carolina, the location of the school. The torch signifies enlightenment and the atomic symbol denotes science; the winged foot symbolizes the cadet's rigorous physical training. The Bulldog is the school mascot, represents loyalty.


Background
