Shoulder Loop Insignia

Description

On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per saltire Or, masoned of the last and Sable, two bendlets Purpure, edged Or. Behind the shield issuant inn chief a trefoil Argent (Silver Gray) behind two brick-laying tools saltirewise Or, points upwards, all surmounting a black semi-circular scroll with the inscription “WORK WORK WORK” in gold letters.

Symbolism

Purple and gold are the school’s colors. Black represents strength and determination. The masonry pattern on the shield refers to the school’s team name, the Brickies, and the city of Hobart’s long standing history with the brick-laying industry. The school’s motto, “Work, work, work” is indicative of the blue collar mentality of the city as well as the work ethic that the Hobart High School JROTC strives to instill into its cadets. The purple bands of color passing through the areas of black represent the strong school spirit that persists through all of the hard work being done by the students. The bricklaying tools crossed behind the shield, with the gray mortar, represent the importance of the tools acquired in school, which are necessary to build a strong foundation for life. The gray mortar is shaped like a trefoil, made of three pieces which symbolize the past, present, and future of the students’ careers.
