Symbolism

Blue and black are the school colors. The color blue represents wisdom and black denotes determination. The three red stars in chief are adapted from the coat of arms of George Washington, for whom the county is named after. The blue waves refer to the Roanoke River which is in close proximity to the school and flows into the Albemarle Sound which borders Washington County. The decorated base is a heraldic pattern that denotes black fur, referring to the school’s mascot, the panther. The positioning of the stars above the waves and black fur pattern represents the importance of unity within the county, with the combining of Creswell and Plymouth into Washington County High School.
