Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, blazoned as follows: Gules, a stylized demi-eagle with wings inverted Sable, head Argent, beak Or, eyed of the second, surmounted by eight contrails Gules, extending from eagle’s wings to base chevronwise reversed.  Attached above the shield, a red scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, inscribed “CARPE DIEM” in white letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 3/4 inches (6.98 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Red and black are the school colors. Red depicting passion and loyalty, and black signifying strength and perseverance. The eagle is a symbol of school pride, ascending to the skies to achieve academic and athletic success.

Description

On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per pale and per chevron reversed Sable and Gules, surmounted by a stylized eagle displayed Argent (Silver), detailed Gris, between elevated wings a mullet with eight points of the third, detailed of the fourth. Attached below the shield, a Black scroll doubled Red inscribed “DIAMOND HILL-JARVIS H.S.” in Silver letters.


Symbolism

Red and black are the school colors. Red depicting passion and loyalty, and black signifying strength and perseverance. The eagle is proudly displayed upon the shield as the school’s mascot, spreading its wings to strive for success. The pole star is one of the brightest stars in the night sky. Its brilliance denotes academic and athletic achievement, as well as    discipline and guidance towards one’s goals. The polestar further alludes to the Lone
Star State—Texas.
