Blazon

An embroidered shield shaped item arched convexly at the top and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border blazoned as follows: Argent (Silver Gray), a base wavy Azure and Argent, issuant from dexter base a stylized demi falcon’s head in profile to sinister of the second, garnished of the first, eyed and nostril flare of the third, nostril Gules, grasping in its beak a torch bend sinisterwise of the last, enflamed Or and detailed Gules, extending to dexter chief. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.  Attached above the item a white scroll, arched convexly at the top and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border, with the inscription “FALCONS” in blue letters. 


Symbolism

Blue and silver are the school colors. The falcon is the school’s mascot, reflecting the honor and dedication the cadets’ place in school, community, and country. The torch signifies the students’ pursuit of academic achievement and leadership while enrolled.  The wavy base illustrates water, denoting commerce and the local trade of the area which is a port and hub for industry, also representing the school’s location of Albany, New York.

Blazon

On a silver metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/8 inches  (2.86 cm)  inches in height blazoned as follows: Quarterly Celeste and Azure, in the first quarter an array of twelve mullets chevronwise, five, five and three Argent (Silver); in the second quarter a lamp of knowledge below a mullet of the third: in the third quarter, a stylized falcon head in profile to sinister of the third detailed of the second, and on the fourth quarter, upon a base wavy of the second and of the third, a three masted ship Sable above in sinister a pole star of the third. Attached above the shield a blue scroll of the inscribed “ALL IN FOR ALBANY” and attached below the shield a blue scroll inscribed “ALBANY HIGH SCHOOL” all in silver letters.


Symbolism

Blue and silver are Albany High School colors. The images on the shield represents the affiliation of the cadets with the school and local community - lamp of knowledge indicates enlightenment, the star above signifies achievement; the stylized falcon head symbolizes the school mascot. The twelve stars upon the light blue background alludes to the Medal of Honor, which pays homage to Sergeant Henry Johnson who hailed from Albany New York. The ship suggests the port trade and industry of Albany, New York, the location of the school and the polestar denotes the pursuit of academic excellence.
