Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a black embroidered disc the head of a Viking, faced to the right, face and helmet white, hair and helmet jewels red, all details in black; all within a red designation band edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border and inscribed “FAGA’ITUA HIGH SCHOOL” above and “VIKINGS” below with two circular spacers between the two inscriptions all in white. Overall diameter is 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm).


Symbolism

Red and black are the school colors. Red symbolizes courage and black symbolizes determination. The Viking is the mascot of the school and his white horned helmet denotes ferocity.

Blazon

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Gules, a Viking ship bow to dexter Or, ship and waves detailed of the first, in chief five breadfruit leaves of the second. Attached below the shield, a Black tri-parted scroll inscribed with “COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE” in Gold.


Symbolism

The Viking ship is a symbol of Faga’itua High School and symbolizes the courageous spirit of the Viking Battalion. The breadfruit tree leaves represent the green, lush lands of Pago, Pago, American Samoa.
