Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

A circular device 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall consisting of a blue inner disc on which is the head and torso of an Indian in profile issuing from the base of the disc in yellow, within a white band edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) scarlet border and inscribed “CADDO” at the top and “PARISH” in base in blue letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height. 


Symbolism

The head and torso of the Indian allude to the group of allied tribes that once lived in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas, after which Caddo Parish was named.  The four colors are the colors requested for the JROTC program in Caddo Parish. 


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 30 March 1972.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-121)
