Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a gray disc embroidered item, edged with a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) black border; a black stylized wolverine’s head facing left, eyed white, detailed green; all within a green designation band with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, inscribed “PSJA MEMORIAL” at the top and “EARLY COLLEGE HS” at the bottom in white letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter.


Symbolism

The school colors are black and green. As the school’s mascot, the wolverine stands as a symbol of ferocity and strength, serving as an example for cadets to aggressively pursue academic achievement and standout as role models within their school community.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 15 February 2019.

Blazon

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Or, an escutcheon Terced in Pairle Argent, Sable, and Vert charged with a sun in splendor of the first; a chief embattled of the fourth. Attached at the bottom a Green tri-parted scroll doubled Black,on the left inscribed “PSJA,” in the center “MEMORIAL,” and on the right “ECHS” in Gold


Symbolism

The shield with the embattled chief/upper background suggests the Alamo, which stands as a symbol of fortitude and endurance. Charged within the wall of the Alamo’ is another shield, symbolizing the school. It’s divided into three; the school colors, black and green; and white at the top, representing the school’s values for student integrity and academic achievement. The sun in splendor denotes honor and glory, and it further alludes to educational and community accomplishments.
