Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Blazon

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Light Blue border, blazoned as follows: Azure (Oriental Blue), issuant from sinister base three contrails bendwise Celeste, garnished Argent, each terminating in a stylized rocket of the third, in dexter chief three mullets, two and one, of the third. Attached above the shield, a Blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Light Blue border, inscribed “ROCKVALE” in white Letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 5/6 inches (7.17cm) in width


Symbolism

Royal blue, light blue, and white are the school colors. The rocket is the school’s mascot and represents strength, speed, and ambition. The three rockets in flight represent the life paths of the cadets, soaring upwards, propelled by great focus and drive. The three stars in the upper left section of the shield refer to the Tennessee State Flag. The position of the rockets pointing toward the stars is a reference to how students at Rockvale High School are motivated to “reach for the stars” in all of their academic endeavors.

Blazon

On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.89 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Azure (Oriental Blue), a bend Argent (Silver), charged with a stylized rocket ascending, of the first, garnished of the second, all between in chief a torch of the second, enflame of the first and in base a plate, fimbriated of the first and bearing three mullets of the first; all within a diminished bordure of the last. Attached below the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed “ROCKVALE” in silver letters.


Symbolism

Royal blue and white (silver) are the school colors. The rocket is the school’s mascot, which was selected by Rockvale High School’s class of 1945 to honor the soldiers who fought in World War II. The rocket represents strength, speed, and ambition. The torch of knowledge signifies enlightenment through education as well as the military duties of the ROTC cadets. The disc with the three stars is taken from the Tennessee State Flag.
