Shoulder Loop Insignia

Blazon

On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Sable, a stylized lion’s head erased Or, on chief wavy, bearing a sun emitting rays, throughout Or. Attached to the bottom of the shield a Black scroll inscribed “TO BE A LION IS MAJESTIC” in gold letters.


Symbolism

Black signifies boldness and strength while gold signifies honor and achievement. The lion is the school’s mascot, a symbol of pride and courage. Lions are majestic beasts that walk with determination, purpose, and discipline. They thwart fear, rejection, or shame. The sun symbolizes the expanding knowledge of cadets as they honorably pursue their studies. Together, the students, teachers, and community comprise a cohesive environment for learning and camaraderie.

The shoulder loop was approved on 19 August 2019.

Description

On a Black disc shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8” (.32cm) Yellow border, displaying at center a Yellow sphere, with Black gridlines, surmounted on the base of the sphere a Gold brown stylized lion head, facing to the right, White eyes and teeth, Yellow tongue, with Black details; above the sphere, the inscription “MEADOWDALE” in white. Overall diameter is 3 1/2” (8.89cm). 


Symbolism

Black and gold are the school’s colors. The gridlined sphere represents the school as a magnet school in international studies.  The lion is the school’s mascot, which reflects the cadets’ leadership qualities. 


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 6 November 1993.
