Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Blazon

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) black border, blazoned as follows: Argent (Silver Gray) a griffin salient to sinister Or armed, langued and feathered Sable, eyed of the first. Attached above the shield, a silver gray arched scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) black border inscribed “TAYLOR” in black. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) in width.


Symbolism

The griffin, a mythical creature that is part lion and part eagle, captures the courage and majesty of a lion with the power and wisdom of an eagle. The griffin characterizes the military courage and leadership developed by the students in the JROTC program. Black and gold are the school’s colors.

Blazon

On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inch (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Sable, a pale Or enfiled by a cog wheel Argent (Silver Gray) charged with a demi annulet broken at sinister of the third; overall a chief arched of the second. Attached below the shield, a black scroll doubled yellow bearing the inscription “TAYLOR  GRIFFIN BATTALION” in silver.


Symbolism

The pale and chief resemble the letter “T” to pay homage to the school’s name of Taylor. The cog wheel portrays technology while the partial ring portrays the letter “C” together these symbols convey the career and technical center. The school’s colors are black and  gold.
