Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a dark blue circular embroidered item, issuing from base a stylized light blue tidal wave, arching to the right, detailed white; all within a circular white designation band edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32cm) dark blue border, bearing the inscription “LONG COUNTY HS” at the top and “BE THE TIDE” at base, in dark blue letters. Overall diameter is 3 ½ inches (8.89cm).


Symbolism

Columbia Blue and White are the school’s colors - combined highlights the characteristics of loyalty and sincerity. The tidal wave alludes to the school’s mascot, as well as signifies the motto “Be the Tide”. The wave also represents an unstoppable focused force that conquers adversities and clears the way forward.

Blazon

On a silver metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inches (3.18cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per fess wavy Argent and Celeste, in chief four mullets chevronwise Argent (Silver), in base a fess wavy Azure (Dark blue). Attached below the shield, a dark blue scroll inscribed “BLUE TIDE BATTALION” in silver letters.


Symbolism

Columbia blue and white are the Long County High School colors. The wavy bar upon the wavy base suggests a tidal wave, representing the school’s mascot. The four five-point stars all equal to the number 20 - alluding to 2020, the year the school joined the JROTC program.
